Alternative Processes | Making Digital Negatives
Digital negatives form the physical bridge between image files and analogue output.
Using a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, the course will take you through the preparation of files for printing onto Pictorico Ultra Premium film and the production of 2-3 digital negatives, ready for contact printing to the process of your choice, with particular emphasis on the Cone ink systems, using the Quad Tone Rip software.
During the course, we’ll be looking at some of the options for output to film, at image preparation, black and white conversions, file sizes and bit depths, with a view to generating the best possible negative for analogue output. Course attendees should arrive with up to five raw, or well processed tiff files, from which 2-3 negatives will be printed.
