INTERMEDIATE DSLR
|
|
| |
|
Take your learning to the next level with our Intermediate DSLR course. This new course will improve your knowledge and understanding of exposure control and introduce you to studio lighting fundamentals, time exposures and special effects with flashguns on location and lastly the all important and often neglected area of Workflow in Post-production.
This course concentrates on taking you up the next level on the ladder of technical and creative competence and introduces you to particular areas of photography not delivered on introductory DSLR courses. Correct exposure is a key fundamental in photography and with this knowledge firmly understood the course moves into the studio with the control of artificial lighting and the use of handheld exposure meters and then onto location mixing portable flashlight with time exposures and finally back to the classroom to process and edit images in a structured workflow through Adobe Lightroom.
After finishing this course participants may consider moving onto a dedicated lighting course or into Post-Production with Adobe Lightroom.
Course content...
Session 1 (classroom):
Exposure Control– reading histograms correctly, fine tuning exposure with 'expose to the right' and in-depth Composition.
Session 2 (Studio):
Principles of Studio lighting – Key light, Fill light, Effect light, Background lights. Using a handheld meter.
Session 3 (on location):

| HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE PANORAMA WORKSHOP |
|
| |
|
HDR (High Dynamic Range) is a concept that addresses the problem of a single image capturing the limited range of exposure from darkest shadows to brightest highlights.
The human eye is capable of seeing detail in both the shadow and highlight areas of a scene that is far beyond what normally can be captured with digital sensors. But digital photography with multiple RAW bracketed captures and multi-RAW we can expand the overall dynamic range of a scene by combining the bracketed exposures in post-processing.
Consider a scene where the brightest area of a scene is measured at F22 and the darkest area at F2, it will be impossible to make a single exposure that records detail in both shadows and highlights but with HDR we can make multiple exposures at all exposures between F22 and F2 and merge these images into one single HDR image.
As HDR photography is particularly suitable for landscape images we will learn how to make HDR panoramic images by making multiple exposures from different points of view (using a panoramic adapter on tripod) and then merging and stitching the images together in post-production to produce a HDR Panorama. |
