| Silicon & Silver is aimed at those who wish to acquire the fundamental technical skills of exposure, digital & film capture, studio & location lighting and post-production, to get off on the right foot for a photography career, be that as a photographer, assistant or to get a head start as a student.
This intensive course concentrates on the main areas of capture, lighting and post-production (workflow and colour management, not Photoshop as it is a course in its own right) and is aimed at photographing people from a commercial fashion/editorial/portraiture context.
Course content...
The course runs over four Fridays and Saturdays. What is delivered on a Friday is again delivered in more depth on the following Saturday. For example on the first Friday morning participants are taught how to use a range of studio lighting equipment from high-end Broncolor packs to ringflashes and then in the afternoon the equipment is put to use as the participants are introduced to high-key and low-key lighting. The next day, Saturday, will be a whole day of hands on studio lighting.
Although Photofusion supplies all equipment and materials participants must have a camera of their own (preferably a D-SLR). Equipment used will include Hasselblad H2 with digital back, Kodak full-frame D-SLR, Mamiya RZ and Hasselblad 503CW film cameras, Broncolor Grafit pack, Broncolor Mobil pack, Profoto 7B pack, Ringflashes, Beauty dishes, Fresnal spots‘etc.’
A selection of models will be used for the lighting sessions.
Level: participants will ideally already have some experience and knowledge of photography particularly exposure control.
On completion we strongly recommend that participants take one of our Photoshop courses. |
