Join the team behind the How Great Thou Art exhibition at Brixton Library in a discussion about the themes and values explored by Charlie Phillip’s photographic retrospective of African Caribbean funerals in London.

The exhibition is being shown at Photofusion from 7th November – 5th December and explores the traditions and changes of African Caribbean funerals in the UK since 1962. The exhibition and the talk will offer new insights on the traditions of nine nights, religion, dress, food, music and photography at funerals over the decades.

Charlie will be discussing his work with Dr Michael McMillan, Paul Goodwin, Empressjai and Eddie Otchere as well as taking questions from the audience.

A book of essays and Charlie’s photographs will be available on sale on the evening for £25.
