This annual exhibition showcases the work of three artists who were chosen from its Members’ show in December 2016 to receive a bursary and develop a project. Daniella Zalcman will present Signs of Your Identity, a photographic portrait series using multiple exposures to explore the legacy of coercive assimilation policies on Native American boarding school survivors. Zalcman is a documentary photographer based in London and New York. She is a multiple grantee of the Pulitzer Centre on Crisis Reporting and a fellow in the International Women’s Media Foundation. She is also the founder of Women Photograph, an initiative to elevate the voices of female and non-binary visual journalists.

Katy Hammond’s project, After the Race, is a study of ex-racing greyhounds that endeavours to present the dogs as individuals, whilst also questioning commonly held connotations relating to these animals. Drawing from a typological approach, the uniqueness of the wet-plate collodion process, and the conventions of human portraiture, this photographic work is a fresh example of contemporary documentary practice. Hammond is based in Norfolk and completed a Master’s degree in Photojournalism and Documentary photography at London College of Communication. Her work has been selected for the Association of Photographers (AOP) Open awards and has been exhibited in numerous group shows.

Jaycee Chaumet’s series, Adieu, offers a window into the lives of elderly nuns living in the Francisca Monastery of Mary in southern France. Having dedicated their lives and energy to helping people in difficult circumstances through missionary assignments all over the world, these elderly Sisters will spend the rest of their lives in the confines of their assembly at Rue de Breteuil in Marseille. Chaumet’s quiet portraits are extraordinarily moving and reflective. Chaumet is a freelance photographer from Burgundy, France who is now based in London.
