Boomoon Photography Exhibition at Flowers Gallery
The debut photography solo-show of South Korean artist Boomoon is the current exhibition at the Flowers Gallery Cork Street location. Boomoon photographs vast expanses of sea, sky and land aiming to convey the experience of the infinity of nature and represent its immensity.
His exhibition at Flower’s comprises selected works from his series Sansu, Naksan, On the Clouds and Northscape. Sansu reflects his South Korean heritage and refers to ‘sansu’, meaning mountain-water, a central idea within the representation of nature. Vertical, large-scale images depicting details of crashing waves comprise Naksan. Images of the sky taken from high altitudes make up On the Clouds, while Northscape contains Boomoon’s series of Arctic landscapes.
Boomoon currently lives in Seoul and Sokcho, South Korea. Since the 1980’s, he has been engaging with the landscape in his work as a means of self-reflection. Devoid of human presence, his images focus only on nature itself and its presence extending beyond the grasp of humanity.
The exhibition runs until 05 April.
