10 JULY – 17 JULY
Future Focus is the exhibition that has resulted from an 18-week community-based photography project with young people from Lambeth. The project was hosted and led by Photofusion.
During the programme, the participants received training in the fundamentals of analogue and digital photography to support them creating their own projects and portfolios. Examples of work include studio-based portraits of local DJs, an exploration of abstract photography and documenting the urban landscapes in Brixton and Peckham.
The group also visited a range of galleries in London to engage more critically with the medium of photography and the participants wrote their own exhibition reviews.
The participants successfully received a ‘Bronze Arts Award’ and edited their work for this exhibition at Photofusion. They will continue working towards the Silver level of Arts Awards later in the year.
Future Focus funded by Lambeth’s Youth Opportunities Fund and Awards for All.
Photofusion is London’s largest photography and media centre offering a range of services and facilities, community projects, professional development programmes for practicing photographers, a contemporary gallery and picture library.
