As an architect I have a certain view on people. When I started with portrait photography I knew my models would come out well composed but maybe a bit too static and rectangular. And then Thierry came for a session. What he did with his eyes and his hands was far beyond expectations. He was incredibly expressive.
Like an actor in a silent movie he jumped quickly from funny to serious and I just had to shoot even faster. Looking back I can see how I started to concentrate on the correspondence between his face and his gestures.
So that’s what the Thierry Series is about.
Peoples gestures in general are a quite subtle matter. You can actually read them. For now I have digitally remastered only a few of 500 photos from the session.
I suspect some chapters of Thierry are still hidden.
