The Thames Series
As a filmmaker, and since 1998, Patrick Burchell has developed excellent working relationships with DOP’s in his field, amongst them Simon Wearne (a Namibian wild life specialist), and Amir Arjomand (an Iranian graduate of the London Film School). In 2011, whilst performing a scoping exercise for a short story along the Thames, Patrick, along with his team, created a series of river stills that has given rise to a first stand-alone photography project. Created over a number of months, and edited over no less than two years, the series aims to bring a Southern African ethos to London’s river landscape, with a renewed emphasis on light and detail, in a minutely planned and executed set dawn and dusk stills.
Biography
Patrick studied photography and filmmaking at the London Film Academy in 2004, and 2011. Earlier degree studies were in finance, and prior to enrolling at the academy, and after college, Patrick ran a small production company in Southern Africa, – various film clips having been produced for and broadcast on SABC, MTV and SKY respectively. In 2011 Patrick began the UK based production company Greenwich Pictures. And it is out of this that stand alone art projects in Photography and Sculpture (3D modelling) have originated.
