New exhibition by photographer James Smith

Past Photofusion gallery exhibitor James Smith has opened the New Year with a fantastic new exhibition at Gibberd Gallery in Essex. Here James is showing a new project ‘Harlow Estate – London Overspill’ open now until 31 January 2014.

Harlow is the third architectural context surveyed by artist James Smith as part of London Overspill, a touring exhibition of his photographic work organised by the University of Hertfordshire Galleries. Having already taken in the hybrid cityscapes of Luton and Hatfield, London Overspill examines how the built environment has mutated as new layers of meaning and utility have been added, and as it has been adapted by municipal decree and those living in and using it. Smith presents un-noticed landscapes through his forensic and unforgiving lens. London Overspill will conclude with a final instalment at Peterborough Museum and Art Gallery in mid 2014.

James Smith will also be holding a “Walk and Talk” event on Saturday 18th January from 11.30-12.30pm
