Scene Group Photography Exhibition at Studio Gallery

Scene, the newest exhibition in the Studio Gallery of the PM Gallery and House, features the work of four photographers Helen Cammock, Fergus Heron, Martin Newth and Matthew Smith.

Using images of the contemporary English landscape, the exhibition explores the themes of place and identity and challenges the way landscape is typically viewed through utilising moving image, photography and sculpture. With a concentration on the familiar and unnoticed, the works consider histories, images and myths responsible for shaping the English landscape and the way the country is imagined today.

Interpretations of land range from the performance of a traditional hymn to national parks reconfigured in miniature, from wartime defensive structures to recent houses pictured between urban and rural settings. Together, these works propose ways through which to reconsider the English landscape.
