The Photography Show and Magnum Photos Present Photography Competition: “30 under 30”
Magnum Photos and The Photography Show’s joint photography competition are giving 30 IdeasTap members the opportunity to have their work exhibited in front of thousands of visitors at The Photography Show, 21-24 March 2015 (Birmingham NEC).
Competition winners will participate in an exclusive 30 under 30 portfolio review event at The Photography Show, where they will receive critiques from top industry professionals from the editorial, publishing, museum, advertising, and gallery sectors. The 30 winning photographers’ work will be included in an exhibition featured at The Photography Show, alongside an official award ceremony hosted by Magnum Photos.
In addition, the 30 winning photographers will automatically be nominated for three People’s Choice Awards, voted for on social media. These photographers will enjoy a special, extended online feature of their work, showcased by both The Photography Show and Magnum Photos.
Photographers should submit images under the theme of “documentary photography covering social issues.” Judges will be looking for a clear narrative, technique, and execution, originality of concept, and the ability to successfully communicate your project.
The brief judges are looking for original photographs that have a sense of narrative, are technically astute, and have a clear concept that links them all together. You should also possess the ability to communicate your project. Judges for this year include Gemma Padley, Projects Editor, British Journal of Photography and freelance photography journalist alongside Josh Lustig, Deputy Editor of Photography, FT Weekend Magazine and publisher at Tartaruga Press, and two Magnum photographers.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: Wednesday 21 January 2015 at 5pm BST
Open to all photographers aged 18-30
