Putting pictures into words: Writing an artist’s statement

A practical evening led by Angad Kaur

Tuesday 22 March 2011, 19:00
Free entry and exclusive to Photofusion Members

There is little chance of being a practitioner and not having to write an ‘artist’s statement’. While it is often viewed as one of the least enjoyable parts of presenting your work, it can offer a valuable opportunity for reflecting on and gathering the different aspects of your practice and bringing them together, and, like your practice, how you write about your work can also be an unfolding and evolving process over time so it doesn’t mean what you write today is set in stone.

In this informal and participatory evening we will consider what a “statement” is, explore different approaches with examples, and find ways to inject the same passion for your photography into your words.
