Join us on Saturday March 9th 2024, from 13:00 to 15:00 as we celebrate International Women’s Day with a special event at Photofusion!  

Speakers: Gina Glover and Chris Boot as introduced by Katy Barron  

This International Women’s Day, we honour the empowering history of Photofusion. Chair, Katy Barron will introduce Gina Glover, co-founder of the Wandsworth Photo Co-op, as she presents women-focused work, including her own photographic exploration on mothers. Join the discussion on the role of photography in progressive social change, followed by a conversation between Glover and Chris Boot, former executive director of Aperture Foundation, exploring the evolution of photography in Britain during the 1980s.  

About the Photo Co-op: Founded in 1979 by Gina Glover and Martin Lipson, the Photo Co-op started as a voluntary effort exploring photography's role in community activism. From addressing Thatcherite issues to challenging visual stereotypes, it evolved into a workers' cooperative with left-wing media activists. Learn about its impactful journey and the significant contributions of Chris Boot, the first coordinator.
