Mark Edwards - 'No. IV'
From the series: 'The Songs That Saints Sing Have No Ending, St. Andrew's Church, Claxton, Norfolk', 2019-21
This portfolio of work started in 2017 and was finished in 2019. It is comprised of ten colour photographs. All the pictures were taken in the church porch of St. Andrew's, a 16th century church situated on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. Through repeated visits I often found flowers, picked from the local fields, hedgerows and gardens, simply arranged on a niche within the porch.
Dr. Mark Edwards is an Associate Professor of Photography at the University of Suffolk and a practicing artist. Joining the university in 2010 he is an active member of its academic community, contributing to its pedagogical portfolio and international research presence.
His work is included in major photographic collections including the V&A Museum, The Government Art Collection, The Hyman Collection of British Photography and Norwich Museum. It has been published and exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally with recent exhibitions including Countless Edens, The Minories, Colchester, UK (2024), Rituals, Gallery 881, Vancouver, Canada (2023-4), Into the Woods: Photography & Trees, V&A Museum, London and A Green and Pleasant Land, Towner Gallery, Eastbourne (2017-18). His work is currently on display at the British Embassy, Berlin, the British High Commission, Islamabad and HM Treasury, London.
