Sarah Wyld - Libby on Samothrace, 1977
Professionally printed on 10x12 Arches 88 fine art matte paper, 100% cotton-rag.
Libby is an artist and has been a dear friend of mine since we met at art school in 1970. I have photographed her sporadically through the years, here in the UK and also in Switzerland where she now lives.
This photograph shows her painting in a disused school house in Samothrace, Greece, where she was living for a while.
Founder member of Photo Co-op. https://www.photo-co-op.com/sarah-wyld---photographer.html
Worked at Community group in Woolwich Dockyard, TIPP -The Independent Photography Project - through the 1980s.
Many teaching projects through the years in camera and darkroom use - E.g., I worked weekly for years with a group of people with mental health needs, patients of Springfield Hospital, . This was an initiative of Photofusion Education. Also Adult Ed teaching, and independent teaching, and portable darkrooms round Wandsworth youth clubs.
Since moving a couple of miles from Margate I've been involved and exhibited with POW (Power of Women), East Kent Mencap, Margate Pride, Westgate Galleria, 101 Club, Pie Factory Gallery.. and more.
“I was a founder member of the Photo Co-op back in 1979. It was very special to me. At last I had found a bunch of lovely & interesting people who shared my ideas about how photography could be used. I was no longer a lonely photographer. This later grew into Photofusion which continues to help make photography accessible to all - with representation, inclusion and diversity at its heart. Long live Photofusion!” -Alma Haser
