Vikram Kushwah - All Creatures Great And Small
Part of my collection, "A Love For No Reason".
Soften your grip on whatever you are holding on to - things, thoughts, ideals. Love them gently instead. You will still be here, just a little bit freer.
In September 2019, during one of the darkest times of my life, I had an experience which can only be described as a kind of spiritual awakening. That event not just had a profound influence on how I viewed this earthly existence from that point onwards, but by extension also flowed into how I approached photography, and the purpose I saw in it. "A Love For No Reason" is a collection of photographs I have created since then, that have a similar quality to the way I experience myself and the world around me. It is light, tender, unburdened by the functions of the ego like intellect and identity. The way I find my inner self is the way the photos appear. It is an ongoing evolutionary exploration, for since everything is transient, with further unfolding of my life this is bound to change as well.
Vikram Kushwah (b. 1983) is an India born photography artist based in England. He moved to the UK in 2008 for a postgraduate diploma in photography at London College of Communication before completing an MA in Photography at the University for the Creative Arts, Rochester in 2010.
His work has been exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, Photo London, PhotoVogue festival, and has appeared in The Guardian, The Telegraph, Vogue India, The Financial Times magazine, among many other publications. Recently he collaborated with Coca-Cola on their "Masterpiece" TV commercial. His photographs are part of private and corporate art collections all over the world.
