Re-configuring, Re-purposing & Re-constructing with Dafna Talmor - Saturday 27 September
Dates: 27 September 2025
Days: Saturday
Time: 11:30 - 15:30
Length: 1 Day
Tutor: Dafna Talmor
Dafna Talmor’s work begins with re-using and reworking images from her personal archive of medium format colour negatives. More broadly, her practice explores how photographs are made, how landscapes and perspectives can be reimagined, and how photography as a medium offers many ways to see and interpret the world.
Inspired by this approach, this one-day workshop invites participants to rethink the idea of "failure" - not as something negative, but as a space full of creative potential. Using their own photographic archives, participants will be encouraged to experiment by cutting, reworking, or reimagining existing material, either physically or conceptually. The aim is to open up new creative directions through play and exploration.
Rather than focusing on a single style or technique, the session will support a variety of creative practices, guided by each participant’s own interests. Through hands-on exercises, prompts, and group discussions, the workshop will offer a chance to transform unresolved or unused material into something new, creating hybrid, unexpected outcomes in the process.
The course will cover:
An introduction to working with personal photographic archives
Informal prompts exploring ideas of failure as creative potential
Hands-on experimentation with reworking and combining images
Time for individual exploration and group discussion
A chance to share and reflect on outcomes together at the end
No prior technical experience is needed. This workshop is open to anyone with a collection of photos (even from a phone or digital camera). You’ll be invited to experiment by physically or creatively reworking your images to discover new imagery.
Dafna Talmor is a London-based artist and lecturer whose work spans photography, installation and collaborative projects. Her photographs are held in major public collections, including the National Trust, the Victoria and Albert Museum, Deutsche Bank, and Hiscox, as well as in private collections around the world. Her most recent solo exhibition, The Moving Eye Cannot See, was shown at Sid Motion Gallery in spring 2025. Dafna has a long-standing connection with Photofusion, where her first UK solo show, Constructed Landscapes, was presented in 2017.
The course is limited to a maximum of 6 people. Please note, we require a minimum of 5 bookings to run the course.
