As part of This Is Also Motherhood, Photofusion will host an intimate evening of conversation in partnership with Procreate Project and Black Psychotherapy, bringing together artists, parents, carers, therapists and the wider community to explore the often unseen realities of motherhood and care work.
The evening begins with a 30-minute viewing of the exhibition, for participants to reflect and connect with the themes and artworks before moving into an informal, discussion in the studio. We have scheduled for a 5pm start to be more accessible to those with caring responsibilities and whilst the event is not designed to be entertaining to children we certainly welcome children attending.
Co-led by Dyana Gravina (Procreate Project) and Kim Loliya (Black Psychotherapy), the conversation and creative reflections will move through the emotional, psychological and societal dimensions of care, asking not only how we better support individuals, but how caring for people can/ should fundamentally reshape the organisations, communities and systems around them.
What to Expect
5.00–5.30pm – Guided viewing of This Is Also Motherhood
5.30–6.30pm – Informal facilitated discussion with audience participation
The event will encourage open dialogue rather than formal presentations, allowing participants to contribute their own experiences and reflections in a welcoming and supportive environment
Capacity: 30 people (maximum)
Free entry. Optional donations to Photofusion are appreciated.
