  • Order and Pay

    Complete the Member or Non-Member form online and pay. You will receive an email confirmation of your order.

  • Label and Drop-off

    Place film in an envelope with your Full Name & Email Address.

    Drop it in our 24/7 External Box, our Office Box (Tue-Sat), or Post it to us via tracked mail.

  • Receive Your Work

    Scans are sent via Smash email link in 2–3 working days (allow up to a week).

    Collect negatives from our office for free, or select £9.00 Return Postage on your form.

    • In-Person: Collect for free from our office (Tues–Sat, 10am–6pm). We hold negatives for 6 months.

    • Return Shipping: If you want us to mail your negatives/prints back, pay the £9.00 Special Delivery fee on your form. (Note: You are responsible for the cost of mailing your film to us).

    • Push/Pull: Available up to 2 stops (£4/£3 Members). Add to "Notes" in order form, making sure to clearly label which film is to be pushed/pulled.

    • Formats: 35mm, 120, and 5x4. We do not process 110 or 127 rolls.

    • E6 Film: Cross-processing (into C41) only. No extra charge. Make sure to add to “Notes” section if you want cross-processing.

    • Blank or Fogged Film Policy: If your film is blank (unexposed) or severely fogged, we will only charge for the Process Only fee. We will automatically refund the scanning portion of your order back to your original payment method.

    • Film Soup: We strictly do not process "souped" or soaked film as it contaminates our hand-processing chemistry.

    • Half-Frame: No extra scan charge. 6x4" prints require a "Double Set" payment (£14/£10).

FAQs

  • Can you develop my Disposable Camera?

    Yes, we develop them! Inside that plastic shell is just a standard roll of 35mm film. Just drop the entire camera into our dropbox. We’ll carefully extract the film for processing and recycle the plastic casing for you.

  • What is C41 anyway?

    C41 is the universal "recipe" for processing modern colour film. Whether it’s a professional roll of Portra 400 or the film pulled out of a disposable camera, this chemistry is what brings those latent images to life. We manage the development time and temperature by hand to ensure your colours are perfectly balanced.

  • Why "Hand-Processed"?

    Unlike automated film processors used in high-street labs, your film is processed in small batches by hand. Our technician, Nick, has over 30 years of experience in the industry, ensuring every roll is handled with the care and technical precision it deserves.

  • Push & Pull Explained

    Pushing (+1, +2 Stops): If you underexposed your film (e.g. shooting 400 film as if it were 1600), we leave it in the developer for longer. This "over-cooks" the film to bring out more detail, resulting in higher contrast and a grittier, grainier look.

    Pulling (-1 Stop): If you overexposed your film (e.g. shooting 400 film as if it were 100), we cut the development time short. This "under-cooks" the film to stop the bright areas from becoming too thick, resulting in a flatter, softer look with more detail in the shadows.

    Important: You must have decided to push or pull the film when you shot it. Please mark the adjustment (+1, -1, etc.) on your film canister and select the same option on your order form.

  • Understanding "Fogged" & Exposed Film

    Fogging occurs when unwanted light, heat, or age affects the film’s chemistry, creating a "haze" over your images.

    Light Exposure: Film is incredibly sensitive. If a roll is accidentally exposed to light outside of the camera—such as the back being opened mid-roll or the film being pulled out of the canister—the images will almost certainly be destroyed. This usually results in a completely black or orange "blank" negative.

    Heat & Age Fogging: If film is very old or stored in a hot environment, the chemical layers become unstable. This creates a "foggy" negative with muddy colours and heavy grain.

    Policy: If your roll comes out totally blank or is so severely fogged that no images can be recovered, we automatically refund your scanning fees.
