Dates: Saturday 11 April, 11:00 - 17:00
Tutor: Ramona Güntert
Learn the craft of traditional darkroom printing from one of our expert tutors. This intensive darkroom course takes students from the basic fundamentals of black and white printing to understanding the more advanced techniques utilised in the making of exhibition-quality prints. Taking place in our professionally equipped darkrooms, the course will cover topics such as:
Enlarger set up for both contact printing and negative enlargement
Resin-coated variable contrast papers
Test strips to determine exposure and contrast
Selective dodging, burning and pre-flash
Paper processing and working safely with chemicals.
You will leave the course with a contact print and between 3-5 darkroom prints.
This course is limited to a maximum of 4 people. Please note, we require a minimum of 2 bookings to run the course.
Please note: this course only covers the printing of images from already processed film – it does not cover the topic of film processing itself. Participants should therefore bring previously processed negatives. Photofusion offers a full black & white processing service for those who do not already have their own processing facilities.
