Join a welcoming community of photographers and photobook enthusiasts at Photofusion, Brixton. In collaboration with London Independent Photography (LIP), this is a practical, hands-on workshop exploring Zine-Making and DIY creative practice.
What to Expect
The session offers the opportunity to:
Explore Zine Culture & History: Gain a brief introduction to zine history, including iconic punk publications like Sniffin' Glue, and view a collection of zines spanning 50 years.
Embrace the Zine Ethos: Discover creative ways photographers can apply DIY principles to turn imagery into limited-edition artist books.
Learn Layout & Folding Techniques: Participate in practical demonstrations covering paper folds, layout approaches and accessible printing methods.
Create Your Own Zine: Design, assemble and bind a custom zine to take home with you by the end of the session.
Who Can Attend
The group is open to active members of London Independent Photography (LIP) and active members of Photofusion.
What to Bring
Images: A selection of 10–20 printed images (under A5 size) to work with. These can be cyanotypes, family archive photos, found imagery, or an ongoing project you would like to develop.
Collage Materials: Magazines or printed ephemera to cut up, if available.
Craft Tools: Any preferred paper craft or bookmaking tools you like to use. Photofusion will provide scissors, paper, coloured paper, glue and bone folders.
Printing Support
If you are unable to bring physical prints, Photofusion can print your images in advance. Please email your image files to info@photofusion.org with the subject ‘Prints for LIP Zine Making Workshop’ prior to Saturday.
