Push
Extending development time to increase negative density and contrast. Most commonly used to compensate when film was intentionally underexposed in-camera (e.g. shooting 400 ISO film at 1600). Pushing increases image contrast and grain.
Note: If film was shot at its normal box speed, pushing in development will not add shadow detail, but it will make the image much higher in contrast.
