Pull

Shortening development time to reduce negative density and contrast. Most commonly used to compensate when film was intentionally overexposed in-camera (e.g. shooting 400 ISO film at 200). Pulling tames bright highlights and softens contrast.

Note: Pulling film shot at box speed results in flatter contrast and lower highlight density.
