OVERVIEW

SALON is Photofusion’s annual group exhibition celebrating the depth and diversity of contemporary photographic work created by our Members.

Selected and curated by the Photofusion team, SALON brings together a wide spectrum of photography in our Brixton gallery.

Since 2008, it has become a cornerstone of our membership programme: a lively and inclusive celebration of photographic practice in all its forms. It is an incredible chance for our Members to have their work up in our gallery, discover and network with other emerging photographers, and win awards - including the £3,000 Glover-Rayner Prize and, for the first time, the Salon Solo Award.

frequently asked questions

Can I submit a series or multiple individual images?

For the main SALON group exhibition, you submit 1 single image. If you opt in for the Salon Solo Award, you submit 5 images from a single project (1 primary image for the group exhibition, plus 4 supporting project images).

If I enter the Solo Award, which image is considered for the group show?

Your primary image (Image 1) is evaluated for inclusion in the main group show, whilst all 5 images are judged together by the panel for the Solo Award.

Are there any restrictions on theme, medium, or style?

No. We welcome all photographic genres, visual approaches, and mediums, including digital, analogue, alternative processes, and mixed-media photography.

What file specifications should I use for image uploads?

Upload JPEGs saved in sRGB colour profile, sized to a minimum of 3000px on the longest side, and under 10MB in file size per image.

Can I submit analogue prints or alternative processes?

Yes. You will just need to upload a high-resolution digital scan or photograph of the physical piece (minimum 3000px on the longest side) for curation and specify the intended display dimensions on your form.

Can I edit my submission after submitting?

Once submitted, applications are final. If you make a mistake, contact the Photofusion team directly before the deadline rather than submitting a duplicate form.

Who is eligible to apply for SALON/26?

SALON/26 is open exclusively to Photofusion members. Entry is completely free for all active members.

My membership is due to expire soon. Can I still apply?

Your membership must be active at the time of submission and remain active throughout the exhibition run. You can join or renew via our website before entering.

Can a photographic collective or duo submit an entry?

Yes, collaborative duos or collectives (up to 4 artists) can enter. All participating artists in the group must hold an active Photofusion membership at the time of submission.

Can international or non-UK based artists enter?

Yes, provided you hold an active Photofusion membership. Selected international artists can choose to print and mount their work in-house at Photofusion to avoid international shipping.

How do I enter the Salon Solo Award or Glover-Rayner Prize?

You can opt in for individual awards directly via the check boxes on the submission form if your work meets the relevant criteria.

Can I win both the Salon Solo Award and the Glover-Rayner Prize?

You are welcome to apply for both awards on your submission form. However, to ensure opportunities are shared broadly across our community, an artist can only be selected to win one award.

Who keeps the copyright to my images?

You retain 100% copyright of your work at all times.

How will my images be used by Photofusion?

Applicants grant Photofusion permission to use selected images to promote the SALON/26 exhibition. You can also choose to opt in on the form to allow Photofusion to feature your work across our wider organisational marketing and charitable fundraising activities.

Will my work be available for sale during the exhibition?

Yes. Photofusion acts as a host space and does not process sales or take any commission. All sales enquiries are passed directly to the artist.

How does the 25% digital printing discount work?

Selected artists receive an exclusive 25% discount on in-house digital printing at Photofusion to help produce their final display piece.

Who is responsible for framing and delivery?

Exhibiting artists are responsible for supplying their final physical artwork ready for display and covering delivery/collection. Comprehensive framing, fixings, and drop-off guidelines will be provided in the Selected Artists' Pack upon notification.
