DIASPORIC SIGHTS London Street Chronicles Vol. II - Mister Geez

  • Photofusion Ltd 2 Beehive Place London, England, SW9 7QR United Kingdom (map)

Diasporic Sights is the second volume in London Street Chronicles, an ongoing photographic exploration of everyday life in London. It focuses on the presence, lived experiences and quiet power of the city’s Black communities.

The theme emerged organically from photographs taken over the years. Originally from Martinique and based in East London, Mister Geez observes his second home through his own experience and cultural background. To capture the spirit of a city, he believes, you have to see yourself in its people.

From gestures of affection and everyday routines to carnival celebrations and protests, these fleeting encounters reveal different facets of community life. As street photography becomes documentary practice, the images form a record of people and a moment in time. The work seeks to honour those pictured, their histories and their realities, inviting viewers of every background to recognise something of themselves.

All prints were handmade by the artist in platinum/palladium on Hahnemühle Platinum Rag. Presented alongside two films and the accompanying photobook, they form part of a long-term visual archive of London and its people.
