Photofusion, in partnership with The Centre for British Photography and The Hyman Collection, presents Nice Day for It! The British Summer in Technicolour. This vibrant group exhibition brings together definitive imagery from British documentary history, celebrating the humour, spectacle and eccentricity of the classic seaside holiday.
Spanning six decades of social history from the 1960s to the 2010s, the exhibition features work by Anna Fox, The Caravan Gallery, Daniel Meadows, John Hinde Studio, and Martin Parr; photographers who shaped the way the nation views itself.
Filled with saturated colour, kitsch aesthetics and affectionate social observation, the exhibition explores traditional holiday resorts as theatrical spaces where leisure, identity and nostalgia meet. From Hinde’s pioneering 1960s postcard imagery to Fox’s sharply observed contemporary portraits, Nice Day for It! offers a playful look at the British summer as an enduring part of national identity and a backdrop for everyday absurdity.
Nice Day For It! The British Summer in Technicolour runs from 12 August to 5 September at Photofusion in Brixton
