Nice Day For It! The British Summer in Technicolour
Photofusion, in partnership with The Centre for British Photography and The Hyman Collection, presents Nice Day for It! The British Summer in Technicolour. This vibrant group exhibition brings together definitive imagery from British documentary history, celebrating the humour, spectacle and eccentricity of the classic seaside holiday.
Spanning six decades of social history from the 1960s to the 2010s, the exhibition features work by Anna Fox, The Caravan Gallery, Daniel Meadows, John Hinde Studio, and Martin Parr, photographers who shaped the way the nation views itself.
Filled with saturated colour, kitsch aesthetics and affectionate social observation, the exhibition explores traditional holiday resorts as theatrical spaces where leisure, identity and nostalgia meet. From Hinde’s pioneering 1960s postcard imagery to Fox’s sharply observed contemporary portraits, Nice Day for It! offers a playful look at the British summer as an enduring part of national identity and a backdrop for everyday absurdity.
Nice Day For It! runs from 12 August to 5 September at Photofusion in Brixton
SELECT/26
Opening from 3 September to 26 September 2026, Select/26 showcases the exceptional work of Maurie Jamieson, Deepthi Muralibabu, Naomi Woddis and Maxwell Anderson. This exhibition provides a platform for projects that explore significant themes such as environmental legacies, familial memory, the tenderness of eldercare, and community displacement, presented through deeply personal projects.
The photographers featured in Select/26 were selected from Salon/25, Photofusion’s annual members’ show, which celebrates the creativity and diversity of its community.
With over 80 members exhibiting a single image each, the Salon/25 judges - Josh Lustig, Holly-Marie Cato, Linsey Young and Ryan Prince - chose these four artists to present a larger body of work, offering an opportunity to delve deeper into their themes and artistic vision.
This is Also Motherhood - Carolyn Mendelsohn and MMHA
Presented in partnership the Maternal Mental Health Alliance, the exhibition lays bare the hidden realities of pregnancy, motherhood and maternal mental health through portrait photography, still life and recorded testimony. The Maternal Mental Health Alliance (MMHA) is a UK-wide charity and collaborative network united one vision: excellent mental health care for all mothers and birthing people.
Running from 7 July to 1 August 2026 at Photofusion in Brixton, the exhibition features intimate portraits and still life photographs created by Carolyn Mendelsohn in collaboration with ten women who have experienced a range of perinatal mental illnesses. Visitors will also be able to hear participants tell their stories in their own words through linked audio interviews.
