SELECT/25

SELECT/25

Select/25 showcased the exceptional work of Rosie Barnes, Megan Eagles, Jan Enkelmann and Aindreas Scholz.

This exhibition provided a platform for projects exploring significant themes such as environmental fragility, cultural identity, motherhood and neurodivergence, presented through deeply personal visual narratives.

The photographers featured in Select/25 were selected from Salon/24, Photofusion’s annual members’ show, which celebrates the creativity and diversity of its community. With 86 members exhibiting a single image each, the Salon/24 judges—Brett Rogers, Destinie Paige, Gina Glover, and Christiane Monarchi—chose these four artists to present a larger body of work, offering an opportunity to delve deeper into their themes and artistic vision.

Rosie Barnes’ No You’re Not, Yes I Am - a portrait of autistic women shed light on the experiences of autistic women, challenging societal misconceptions with a series of poignant portraits. Her work advocated for greater understanding and acceptance, offering a deeply moving exploration of a world often misunderstood.

Megan Eagles’ Nurture captured the intimate realities of motherhood during the UK pandemic. Through tender and natural portraits, she celebrated the strength and resilience of mothers as they navigate isolation and uncertainty in extraordinary circumstances.

Jan Enkelmann’s The Triangle focused on Brixton, a neighbourhood renowned for its cultural vibrancy and resilience. His photographs revealed the contrasts, transformations, and enduring spirit of this iconic community, blending its rich history with contemporary change.

Aindreas Scholz’s The Most Beautiful Anthropocene employed cameraless techniques and eco-friendly processes to craft striking visuals that juxtapose beauty and decay. His work highlighted the fragility of ecosystems and urged reflection on humanity’s profound impact on the natural world.

Select/25 invited viewers to engage with these thought-provoking narratives, reflecting on the interconnectedness of humanity, identity and the environment.

To enhance accessibility and inclusivity, audio descriptions for the exhibition were created by Photofusion member, Marianna Silvanno, allowing all visitors to connect with the stories behind the imagery.

As part of the public programming for the exhibition, we hosted a panel talk with prize-winning photographic artist Laura Pannack alongside Photofusion Select/25 exhibitors Rosie Barnes, Megan Eagles, and Jan Enkelmann. It was an insightful discussion on portraiture, exploring each artist’s unique approach to photography. From intimate storytelling to documentary work, they shared distinctive perspectives on capturing identity, community, and human connection.
